The Injury Recovery and Support Services Team work together to get our injured employees and volunteers back to pre-injury health and capacity. In the role of Injury Recovery Services Team Leader, you will lead a team to deliver strategic injury and claims management for both WorkCover Employee Claims and Volunteer Claims, reporting to the functional manager.

CFA is self-insured for volunteers. Whilst it is similar to WorkCover, it's not the same. With CFA being a pre-dominantly volunteer organisation, the majority of our claims come from our volunteers. With these claims, the function manages everything from the initial liability decision through to finalisation of the claim. Therefore, and with your Allied Health background, you will use your specialist knowledge and be hands-on reviewing and approving treatment requests. You will also work closely with the CFA Consultant Psychologist, as we have a broad range of psychological claims as well as physical injury claims.

You will also effectively manage the performance of your direct reports, as well as monitoring the quality of the injury and claims management strategies. In addition, the role comprises administrative tasks including authorising compensation payments and reporting on claims numbers and costs. Moreover, this role will provide you the opportunity to engage and educate key stakeholders.

Just as no two compensation claims are the same, there are no two days the same in the Injury Recovery and Support Services Team!

About You:

To succeed in this role, you will have tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, ideally with an injury and compensation management focus or specialisation, or equivalent experience. You will have strong technical knowledge and understanding of compensation schemes, with the ability to interpret/apply legislation and provide specialist advice. Also, you will have proven leadership and people management skills, with expertise obtaining and maintaining effective cooperation and contribution of diverse range of stakeholders.

In addition, you will also have high-level written and verbal communication skills, a solid negotiation ability, with experience delivering on agreed outcomes and deadlines with minimal supervision.
