About you
You are known as a passionate, committed nurse or midwife. If we spoke to people who know you well, they'd say you consistently strive to provide excellent patient-centred care to every patient, every time. They'd also talk about your motivation to perform at your best every day and about how you actively seek opportunities to further develop your skills and nursing practice.
Further, they'd talk about your dedicated team player attributes, your appreciation of the demands and pressures of a busy hospital and your demonstrated flexibility and agility to adapt when priorities change.
Sound like you? Here's a bit about our current opportunities.
We have a number of opportunities for experienced Registered Nurses and Midwives looking to secure long term employment, either part time or full time.
As the largest public health service in Victoria, working across a wide range of specialties, we're confident we can offer you the chance to work in an area that suits your interest and experience. This could include leadership roles, as well as opportunities that support you to extend your practice or grow in new areas and specialities.
Alternatively, if you're interested in more variety, you could choose to join our Nurse and Midwife POOL, giving you the chance to experience working in a variety of wards, locations and shifts that suit you. Many of our new recruits find this a good way to help determine whether there's a particular specialty they'd like to pursue.
And now a bit about us
Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service and proudly provides healthcare to one quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire life-span from newborn and children, to adults, the elderly, their families and carers.
Our facilities are located across a large area in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We are surrounded by beautiful beaches, the Dandenong Ranges with forests and charming villages, and enjoy close proximity to Melbourne night life. We are in an area of safe neighbourhoods to live, with excellent schools and universities, safe and reliable public transport and lots of parks and recreational areas. Over 22,000 of us work at one of over 40 care locations. Some of our larger facilities are Monash Medical Centre and Monash Children’s Hospital at Clayton, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre, and Cranbourne Centre. We also have an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities.
The diversity of our services enables our nurses and midwives to choose to work in general medical and surgical wards or in specialist areas such as Emergency, Mental Health, Critical Care, Peri-operative and Midwifery. We invest heavily in professional development, education and training to support you to get everything you want from a rewarding career. We have excellent working conditions and legislated nurse and midwife to patient ratios which ensure safer workplaces for nurses and midwives and excellent patient care. More details about these ratios can be found here:
Safe Patient Care (Nurse to Patient and Midwife to Patient Ratios) Act 2015
Future expansion
While we regularly expand our existing services, we also keep pace with community needs through our capital works projects. We're currently completing construction of Australia's first dedicated cardiac hospital, which will open in early 2023. We've recently expanded the Emergency Department (ED) at one of our three major hospitals and have plans to expand the other two EDs within three years, as well as building a 150 bed residential aged care facility.
