About the Business Unit:

Hopkins Correctional Centre is a medium-security men's prison located in Ararat, Victoria. The prison's primary purpose is to prepare male prisoners for transition, reintegration, and release. Hopkins Correctional Centre provides accommodation for sentenced and unsentenced prisoners with protection requirements in an open campus environment, combining community-style prison design with the Better Living Model (an innovative case management model for prisoner management).

About the Role:

Reporting to the Justice Officer Team Leader, the Justice Officer - Business Support role provides accurate and timely administrative and support services to Hopkins Correctional Centre and staff.

The role has a strong focus on service delivery to clients, internal and external stakeholders, and the public.

Your Client service duties may include:

  • Over-the-counter enquiries
  • Providing information and assistance with matters relating to Department of Justice and Community Safety portfolio
  • Reception duties and coordinating schedules for program areas.

Your Administrative duties may include:

  • Reception, financial, mail, basic correspondence, coordination, and minute taking for events and meetings
  • Fleet and facility duties
  • Maintenance of a range of electronic information and filing systems.

These positions are based at Hopkins Correctional Centre in regional Victoria and may require direct prisoner contact. The Justice Officer - Business Support team roster involves working weekdays, Monday through to Friday.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • The ability to cooperate and work well with others in pursuit of team goals while sharing information and acknowledging others' efforts. You will also possess the willingness to step in to help others where required
  • The ability to perform a range of tasks through digital tools (e.g., Microsoft 365 suite applications such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams and SharePoint).
  • The ability to responds to clients' needs while keeping the client or stakeholder up to date with issues and developments. You will be able to promptly follow through on inquiries, requests and complaints while taking responsibility for correcting problems promptly.
