About the role
The Koori Men's Family Violence Practitioner (online) will engage with and provide support to men irrespective of whether they attend as a respondents/people who use family violence or an applicants/victim survivors byassessing support needs of clients and providing effective services to address individual needs.
The role is part of an online practitioner team comprised of a Koori Family Violence Practice Manager and Koori Women's and Men's Family Violence Practitioners. The online team normally engages with clients by phone and videoconferencing and in-person attendance in court is not normally required. The online team works closely with other practice managers and practitioners within the Koori Family Violence Unit to deliver the service called Umalek Balit.
The Umalek Balit team works closely with internal and external stakeholders and organisations and functions to provide a culturally safe and relevant response to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people accessing the court for family violence related matters including Family Violence Intervention Orders, Koori VOCAT or criminal matters.
This position is an Aboriginal Designated Position in accordance with Court Services Victoria Designated Positions policy.
