Position Reports to: Delivery Lead

Who we are 

Service Victoria is an Administrative Office within the Department of Premier & Cabinet charged with simplifying, improving and modernising essential government transactions and delivering customer service. We are working hard to deliver a customer service system around what Victorians want and need, rather than what works for government. We know people want easier access to government transactions, including online options. 

The opportunity

As Service Victoria grows, and moves into its operational phase, we will continue to progressively add new transactions and new functionality to existing capabilities, including digital licences, digital proof of identity, online accounts and payments with a particular focus on our mobile app.  

What a Lead iOS Engineer does at Service Victoria: 

  • Technical specialist within the tribe 
  • Resolving complex problems in all phases of the software development life cycle. 
  • Supervise and carry out all phases of systems design 
  • Performing analysis for potential business opportunities, identifying and recommending technical solutions. 
  • Helps to plan, design, build and support our products 
  • Contribute to product planning by providing authoritative and pragmatic advice balancing technical excellence, business objectives and quality requirements 
  • Develops high quality solutions to challenging and complex product requirements. 
  • Leads the technology strategy, including design patterns, library re-use, testing and deployment techniques 
  • Provides guidance and technology leadership to the rest of the team, helping everyone improve their skills and craft, contributing to the overall technical capability of the organisation 
  • Drives a culture of continual improvement and introspection and champions a desire to constantly improve within the team 
  • Proactively keeps up to date with relevant technology, trends, developments, and advancements 
  • Participates in a 24/7 on-call roster for responding to incidents out of hours (our teams own the software the build and are responsible for supporting its operability)
