Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice & Community Safety (the Department). The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC).

Lead Officer Consequence Management

  • Engaging role coordinating state-level consequence management
  • Full-time (Shift Work), Fixed Term until June 2023
  • VPS5, $102,637 to $124,183 per year plus superannuation

Reporting to the Manager Strategic Risk and Partnerships, the Lead Officer Consequence Management will provide forward looking diagnostics ensuring plans are in place for potentially compounding and cascading consequences.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Develop strategic and authoritative advice regarding risks and potential consequences including in preparedness for, and anticipation of, emergency events.
  • Lead the Strategic Risk and Consequence Unit in the SCC on a rotating shift basis, including building capability and products which meet the needs of the EMC.
  • Support the Manager Strategic Risk and Partnerships in the development of consequence thinking capability and responses to emerging risks and issues in collaboration with the accountable departments, agencies and organisations.
  • Undertake the role of State Consequence Manager and serve the needs of the EMC by ensuring consequence analysis and response is embedded in plans for major emergency events, actual or anticipated.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders across the broader emergency management sector.

To be successful you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in consequence-based approaches to risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex programs of work, managed through the full project management life cycle.
  • Tertiary qualifications in risk management, emergency management, or disaster management (particularly risk and consequence management focus), are desirable.
