Reporting directly to a supportive and pro-active Managing Legal Counsel - Litigation & Enforcement (L&E), this dual focussed role is pivotal to ensuring the VBA delivers a robust prosecution and litigation function by:

  • partnering closely with client groups across the VBA to provide authoritative legal advice on a wide range of prosecutions, disciplinary proceedings, civil litigation, and administrative law matters;
  • leveraging strategic and solutions-based thinking to attain corporate objectives across end-to-end litigation activity;
  • taking the lead on advocacy services, appearing on behalf of the VBA before Federal and Victorian courts of all levels, the AAT, VCAT, coronial inquests, tribunals and related forums.

What we are looking for

  • Extensive experience across critical Prosecution and litigation matters
  • Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the building and plumbing legislative framework or evidence of your ability to quickly and effectively acquire and apply this knowledge.
  • Leadership experience with evidence in supervising, coaching and mentoring clients and team members in an engaging manner.
  • Ability to be a team-player, collaborate and understand the importance of building a brand.

Please note:

Current public sector employees at the same grade will be considered for a transfer of entitlements with evidence.  A request above entry level may be considered in certain circumstances.
