Industry Coordination and Recovery Group

The Industry Coordination and Recovery Group leads and works with our partners to enable Victorian industries and businesses to recover and thrive while operating in a COVIDSafe environment. Our goal is to ensure business and industry is COVIDSafe and active contributors to Victoria's economic recovery.

We achieve this by supporting industry, businesses and workplaces through strategy, engagement and delivery of COVIDSafe programs, to support industry and business to respond to the changing public health landscape. Our policy and delivery advice informs immediate and longer-term recovery and we work across government to achieve outcomes for industry and the economy, and we work across government to support portfolio leads in industries for engagement and enforcement.

Our group engages with industry through all channels, gathering intelligence and providing advice to Department of Health public health teams on industry impacts.

Strategy & Preparedness, and Coordination and Recovery branches

The positions are within the Strategy & Preparedness, and Coordination & Recovery branches which collectively lead, coordinates and delivers whole of government strategic projects and initiatives to support industry recovery as Victoria moves to COVID Normal.

The teams are dynamic and agile team that is responsive to the evolving COVID-19 landscape, including ensuring consistency of guidance to businesses on being COVIDSafe, understanding economic impacts of public health restrictions, and working with business and across government to support us during the pandemic and beyond.

The groups are strongly delivery-focussed with a demanding workload, the need for high-quality work to tight deadlines, and with a strong collaboration and influencing focus. The branches have a matrix-management approach that allows for teams to have key responsibility but also be able to dynamically allocate resources to highest priorities and share skills as required, offering opportunity for staff development while meeting work pressures.

The Roles:

Reporting to the relevant Director, these roles will be responsible for delivering high quality policy and strategic advice, process coordination and outcomes, as well as liaising closely with the Department of Health and other government departments on matters related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:  

  • Management experience with a proven ability to build, lead, motivate and develop a high performing team delivering high-priority and value work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent public policy knowledge and skills, including extensive experience developing policy positions.
  • Exceptional negotiating, influencing and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively, build consensus, develop networks and effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering key policy and programs under pressure to tight timeframes.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to deliver concise, authoritative, high quality written material.
  • A strong values-led approach.
