The Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission is an independent statutory body established under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022. The Commission promotes, supports and protects the rights of consumers, families, carers and supporters. The Commission's responsibilities include monitoring government's progress in reforming the system and ensuring the system meets the expectations of people with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress, their families, carers and supporters.

About the role: 

The Manager, System Performance and Monitoring, will play a lead role in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission to monitor the implementation and oversight on the recommendations of the Royal Commission into the reform on Victoria's Mental Health System. The role manages a team of analysts and data scientists and will report into the General Manager, System Performance and Monitoring.

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission (MHWC) is an accountability body in the mental health and wellbeing system established under the new Act and recommended by the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System. The new MHWC includes Commissioners with lived experience of mental illness or psychological distress and lived experience as a family member, carer, or supporter.

How you'll make a difference:

  • An expert in market intelligence, economic, risk and governance who values meaningful work and contributing towards the reform of Victoria's mental health system.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and proactively develop strategic solutions.
  • Capable of managing and building a high performing multi-disciplinary project and data analytical team.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Lead work to monitor implementation of the Royal Commission recommendations, in collaboration with the General Manager and Commissioners.
  • Support the Commission's data strategy informed by collaboration with stakeholders such as mental health and wellbeing service providers, the Department of Health, including the Victorian Agency for Health Information, the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist and Safer Care Victoria.
  • Provide direction to a multidisciplinary team ensuring the development and retention of skills, the development of multiskilling of individuals and flexibility amongst the team that supports service delivery.
  • Provide thought leadership on analysis and reporting of mental health and wellbeing system performance.
