About the Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist/Staff Specialist at Grampians Health, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality clinical care to our clients within the Mental Health Services department. You will lead the clinical care provision from intake to case closure, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and maintaining patient records. Your responsibilities will include assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning, all while upholding our values of compassion, accountability, respect, innovation, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the provision of clinical care from intake through to case closure.
  • Conduct assessments, diagnoses, and treatments in consultation with clients, families, and referring agents.
  • Plan and implement discharge planning and ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain patient records and fulfill legal requirements under relevant legislation.
  • Participate in on-call roster and supervise trainee psychiatrists.
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to other clinical staff.
  • Contribute to staff training and development programs and participate in policy development.
  • Engage in research projects and service evaluation, including quality improvement programs.
  • Uphold confidentiality and respect diversity in patient care and workplace interactions.

Skills & Experience

  • Registered medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia and a Fellow of the RANZCP or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience in hospital-based psychiatry, research, and teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate levels.
  • Superior knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and Psychiatric Services policy.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, consultancy, and interpersonal skills.
