About the role:

An opportunity for one (1) x Mental Health Clinician to be part of our Health and Wellbeing Hub for the Western Region Hub located in Swan Hill OR Mildura.

The Health and Wellbeing Hub is the single most significant investment in the health, safety, and wellbeing of Victoria Police employees to prevent and respond to work related injuries. Six multi-disciplinary teams, based in hubs across the state are being established, enhancing employee's mental health, injury prevention, early intervention, and recovery support. This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to support Victoria Police employees.

The Mental Health Clinician will provide preventative and proactive mental health services to Victoria Police employees. The position will work closely and collaboratively with local managers and employees to improve help seeking and early engagement with appropriate mental health services. Through a relational and integrated approach, this position will engage with employees through wellbeing conversations, brief interventions, care co-ordination and reflective practice to create pathways for employees to seek the most appropriate support they need.

Your duties will include:

  • Deliver high quality mental health and wellbeing support to employees in an integrated and relational model which involves being present and visible around police stations.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team of health, safety and wellbeing professionals and providing clinical expertise to the team.
  • Deliver clinical interventions such as wellbeing conversations, brief interventions and case co-ordination in accordance with the Victoria Police clinical governance framework.
  • Facilitate preventative and proactive interventions such as group based reflective practice.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers to uplift capability in the management of employees experiencing mental health issues.
  • Overnight travel may be required for this role.

 

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with other members in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of prevalent mental health and wellbeing issues and best practice approaches.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of short-term mental health interventions and group based reflective supervision.
  • Proven ability to engage, build rapport and have difficult conversations with a range of stakeholders including clients and managers.
  • Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA; or registration as a Social Worker with AASW; or registered Mental Health Nurse with AHPRA; or Occupational Therapist with AHPRA and endorsed for mental health practice by OTA.

  • This position is located in Swan Hill or Mildura Police Stations, 507 Campbell St, Swan Hill OR 62 Deakin Ave, Mildura
  • This position requires regular travel, applicants must hold a current Driver's Licence.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
