Monash Children’s Hospital is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated children’s health services, with more than 30 specialist services and programs. We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in many areas including Rehabilitation & Oncology.

A Bit About this Role

Monash Health, in partnership with The University of Melbourne, is participating in a pragmatic, multi-centre Randomised Control Trial (RCT) of an innovative program titled TEDI-Prem (Telehealth for Early Development and Intervention in babies born very preterm). TEDI-Prem is an early, intensive intervention for preterm infants born <32 weeks’ gestational age and includes specific activity-based motor, cognitive and language play-based training and actively involves parents to strengthen their confidence, wellbeing and bonding with their preterm infant. The program commences in person in the neonatal unit and continues with tele-rehabilitation using a video-based model (Zoom) once the infant is discharged from hospital until 12 months’ corrected age.

We are seeking a Grade 3 Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist to lead the TEDI-Prem Trial at Monash Health. You will be responsible for participant recruitment, administration of neurodevelopmental assessments, delivery of the TEDI-Prem program and completion of associated research administrative duties.

To ensure the ‘care as usual’ group are not exposed to the TEDI-Prem intervention, the successful candidate will not provide any clinical services in Monash Newborns throughout the study’s recruitment period.

What we’re looking for in you:

  • A relevant occupational therapy or physiotherapy qualification

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills and significant experience (at least 7 years) in the provision of neurodevelopmental therapy services with high-risk newborns including assessment, intervention, case management and discharge planning in the hospital setting

  • AHPRA registration

  • Experience in research &/or quality &/or project management

  • Demonstrated experience in providing therapeutic intervention using a telehealth platform
