The Department of Cancer Imaging provides a high-level service in cancer diagnosis, staging, therapeutic monitoring and research. We perform more than 9000 PET/CT examinations per annum. Our new facility in Parkville features four PET/CT, two multi-slice quantitative SPECT/CT, two CT, 3T MRI, ultrasound, and digital mammography with tomosynthesis. We also perform many non-FDG studies including F-18, Ga-68, Cu-64, I-124 and Zr-89 radiotracers for both clinical and research purposes including first in-human studies. We are a large, integrated nuclear medicine therapy facility for both outpatient and inpatient care (including paediatrics), performing over 400 radionuclide therapy treatments per year with Lu-177, Y-90 or I-131 for malignancies including neuroendocrine, prostate, thyroid and lymphoma.



The successful candidate will participate in the clinical PET, diagnostic nuclear medicine and therapeutic nuclear oncology program. Attendance at a multi-disciplinary meeting will be expected.



Professional Skills and Experience




To be successfully appointed, you will:



  • Be a consultant with an interest in pursuing commencing an academic career in nuclear medicine  and gaining research experience in a large complex health organisation

  • Have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills

  • Hold a medical degree, with completion of Nuclear Medicine Specialist training as accredited by the Committee for Joint College Training (CJCT) of the RACP and the RANZCR, or equivalent

  • Be registered with AHPRA and hold, or be eligible for, a Medicare provider number with credentialling for Nuclear Medicine and PET by the Joint Nuclear Medicine Credentialling and Accreditation Committee (JNMCAC).
