About the facility
As a large regional hospital we service an enormous catchment that extends across to the South Australian border. The Nuclear Medicine Department at Barwon Health comprises of a 870DR GE SPECT/CT and a 670 Discovery GE SPECT/CT. We undertake any study that we are requested to do and undertake scanning on both adults and paediatric patients. These studies comprise of cardiac, renal, lung, endocrine, bone, liver/spleen, gastrointestional and many others.
Barwon Health has a fully equipped Radiopharamcy Hot Lab that undertakes all reconstitutions, full QC, blood labels and Cold Lab studies. It is equipped with a weekly delivered Technetium Generator.
The PET/CT Department comprises of a Siemens mCT. We undertake a range of FDG, Ga DOTA, Ga PSMA, Brain and Cardiac imaging. Manufacture of Ga-68 labelled products is undertaken on site within a Hot Cell.
Diagnostic CT is carried out by our Nuclear Medicine Staff in both our Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT areas.
About the role
Barwon Health Department of Nuclear Medicine has established a program over the years to support and encourage new graduates. This program utilizes the ability to aide in increasing clinical skills gained within the PET, Nuclear Medicine and Radiopharmacy areas with supported teaching and mentoring by our staff. Defined learning goals and objectives are mentored in consultation with you as the Graduate.
The program also runs our Graduates through the Barwon Health Graduate Program that enables you to have an insight into how other areas within the hosptial environment work. It enables you to debrief and discuss issues or ideas with other Allied Health professionals throughout the Barwon Health organisation.
Three weeks of dedicated diagnostic CT training will be provided within the 12 months as a Graduate.
We have a dedicated tutor that facilitates your journey as a Graduate.
