In support of the growing needs of our diverse local community, Chestnut Gardens, Doveton, is home to 100 high care residents and utilises the latest in care and design philosophies. Chestnut Gardens is built as a series of houses, each with its own decor.


Our Residential Care Team at Chestnut Gardens work in ‘The Avenue’ or ‘The Boulevard’ with residents living with chronic physical and/ or mental health care conditions. To ensure the best care, those that live at Chestnut Gardens work in collaboration with a skilled nursing group in developing person centred care.


The Boulevard at Chestnut Gardens is seeking a Nurse Manager wishing to work with an established team to continuously improve the lives of those living in the home. As a home, we are seeking a Nurse Manager (NM) who has experience in the clinical development of staff, improving residents experience and open to innovative and collaborative ideas.


A day in the life


No two days will be the same as you work with an established team to continuously improve the lives of those living in the home.


Reporting to the Facility Manager, the NM is a leadership role, responsible for the clinical and operational outcomes of this area of the home and managing employee’s progression through workforce management and strategy.  The NM will proactively contribute to monitoring the quality of care and services of residential services against the Aged Care Quality Standards.  With exceptional communication and people management skills, the NM will lead by example to inspire their team to perform at their best whilst working collaboratively and in partnership with those living in, visiting, and working in Chestnut Gardens.


What you bring


You have been developing your managerial and leadership skills or you are an accomplished Nurse Manager.  You thrive when working in a fast paced environment and are passionate about delivering a high quality of evidence based care.  You communicate clearly and effectively, and are able to build rapport and engage others to deliver outcomes in a timely manner.  You are a respected member of the team and advocate for those under your care.  You thrive on continuous improvement and ideally hold or are working toward a Post Graduate Certificate, Diploma, Masters in leadership and management or gerontology.


You Also Have:



  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience, ideally in a similar role

  • A high level of understanding of the Aged Care Quality Standards

  • Time management, superior communication and influencing skills

  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Genuine thirst for learning and open to further study

  • A committed to proactively support colleagues at all levels as well as a mentor for the team

  • Experience in consumer engagement within a residential setting

  • Experience in assessment contacts with the Aced Care Quality and Safety Commission


What You Need:



  • A relevant Post Graduate Qualification

  • Clinical experience in a residential setting

  • Clinical leadership and management in a residential setting

  • A willingness to learn and grown your leadership capabilities through commitment to be a representative of the nursing workforce at committee meetings

  • Australian working rights

  • Current AHPRA registration
