About the Role

This is a Casual role wthin the Acute Occupational Therapy Service, providing flexible days/hours and is suitable for an experienced Occupational Therapist who would like to make a difference to the outcomes of children, whilst also balancing their own family and/or life committments. Opportunities within this role may vary depending on your experience and clinical interests. Areas of inpatient service delivery may be mixed across orthopaedics/ surgery, acute neurosciences, general medicine and specialty medicine. Outpatient services may include specialist assessment clinics and specialist tertiary clinics. As part of a dynamic team of Occupational Therapists at the RCH this role offers an opportunity to broaden knowledge, skills and experience within paediatrics.

 

What you'll achieve:

  • Provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention in accordance with best practice and prioritisation guidelines
  • Participate and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings related to patient care planning
  • Work in a flexible manner and participate in other duties consistent with skill level (as allocated) to ensure adequate cover and clinical care, equitable workload distribution and equity of access to occupational therapy services
  • Be aware and support others to be aware of ethical and legal requirements of the role and adhere to the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia - Code of Conduct, ethics and guidelines
  • Achieve and maintain competency in relevant skills in line with departmental requirements specific to role

 

Classification for this position will range from VF6-VF9 Grade 2 Year 1 to Grade 2 Year 4 (FTE base salary $86,730 to $99,699 per annum, plus superannuation)

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Recognised graduate-entry qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)
  • Registered to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Eligibility for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia
  • Clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist in paediatrics or an acute tertiary hospital

About the Occupational Therapy department

The Occupational Therapy department is within the Division of Nursing and Allied Health. We provide inpatient and outpatient services for infants, children, adolescents with a wide range of medical conditions. Our team works closely with families, carers, community services and other health care professionals to ensure the best occupational therapy outcomes for our patients
