Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne.  Our comprehensive range of services extends to medical oncology, haematology and radiation oncology in our Gippsland Cancer Center, as well as a range of general medical specialities, emergency and intensive care, general surgery, and elective speciality surgery,  obstetrics, dialysis and aged care.  We have a comprehensive allied health service


LRH has a number of outstanding facilities following a recent expansion. These include a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern and contemporary inpatient units. These complement extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool. LRH is the regional provider of mental health services in Gippsland. A unique opportunity exists for a Palliative Medicine Physician to join the expanding Gippsland Regional Palliative Care Consultancy Service (GRPCCS) in collaboration with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMMC) – Parkville Integrated palliative care service


Latrobe Regional Hospital is responsible for providing Palliative Care Consulting Services across Gippsland.


This position will work



  • Within GRPCCS to provide palliative care consultancy services across the Gippsland region

  • With PMMC to build a regional-metro partnership to enhance the strategic direction of the GRPCCP

  • In collaboration with LRH cancer medical specialists team to provide inpatient care to palliative, medical oncology, radiation oncology and haematology patients within the LRH regional referral hospital.   This role will also support the supervision and training of an advanced trainee medical oncology


Full time or fractional applications will be considered.


Candidates must be eligible for Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and have appropriate qualifications and clinical experience in palliative medicine and registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
