GV Health are currently undergoing a $229 million redevelopment, this redevelopment will include a new renal dialysis unit, an expanded emergency department including satellite medical imaging, inpatient wards, extended theatre space, intensive care unit, a new kitchen, mortuary and the establishment of a Women’s and Children’s precinct featuring a new, special care nursery, paediatric ward and refurbished maternity ward.

The role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Pathology Collector to join our busy GV Health Echuca Pathology Department on a Casual (fixed term) basis until September 2020 with possibility of extension beyond this date. After training, this role will provide support during the leave of other staff.
The Pathology Collector/ Laboratory Assistant will assist in providing high quality and reliable services for both ward and outpatient collections, as well as assisting laboratory staff with sample preparation and general laboratory duties. Applicants should possess qualifications as an Enrolled Nurse or equivalent, or a Certificate IV in Pathology Collections/Laboratory Assistance. A demonstrated strong background of experience in Pathology Collections is also acceptable. Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work under minimal supervision in a high-pressure environment.

The shifts available are of variable length from 3.5-8 hours and may be on weekdays and weekends.
To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Demonstrated high degree of knowledge and attention to detail

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

  • Previous experience in a Pathology Laboratory is desirable
