About the Department

The People Strategy and Operations (VPS) Division is responsible for managing HR operations and providing strategic support for both corporate staff and accommodation services. It oversees corporate environments, sustainability initiatives, payroll, recruitment, policy development, workplace relations, and workforce management. Operating under a values-based framework, the division prioritises meeting client needs and improving policies and processes, to deliver on our corporate responsibilities.

It's an exciting time to join the People Services branch, which manages payroll, people operations, talent acquisition and HR services with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent, whilst nurturing a culture of high performance and innovation. The branch is currently implementing a new innovative operating model to introduce more efficient work methods and enhance its service delivery to the business.

About the Role

A career development opportunity exists for you as a People Operations Advisor within the People Operations team of People Services. In our newly designed team, we provide recruitment advice and facilitate pre-employment checks and letters of offer for successful candidates.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Possess recruitment experience, including with pre-employment checks and contract creation
  • Be able to engage with stakeholders and manage client expectations
  • Interpret and apply relevant policy and legislation regarding employment contracts
  • Work as part of a strong, supportive team
  • Have a proactive approach to achieving team and business objectives

Can you demonstrate exceptional organisation and planning, attention to detail and maintain quality service whilst adhering to employment policy? Can you develop positive team relationships and work with other areas of People Services to ensure an overall exceptional client experience?

Your capacity for collaboration, driving continuous improvement, and cultivating genuine relationships will be pivotal to your success.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in HR or similar
  • Experience working in a dynamic, high performing Human Resources team or similar function in a large complex organisation.
  • Strong client engagement skills exhibited through effective communication and exceptional consulting abilities.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
