Physiotherapist Grade 2 - Subacute GEM

About the role

 The Physiotherapist Grade 2, Subacute GEM role is responsible for the physiotherapy management of GEM patients on a busy mixed general medicine / GEM ward.  Expect a wide variety of challenging and interesting patient presentations and the opportunity to play a key role within a dynamic interprofessional team.  You will provide best practice physiotherapy management of older patients and patients with complex care needs.  Complex discharge planning is an important part of the role, as is advocating for patients with a range of conditions and co-morbidities, including dementia, Parkinson's disease and frailty-related illness.  Prepare to share your knowledge and extend your teaching skills as you supervise undergraduate physiotherapy students and connect beyond GEM to your colleagues in the acute, rehabilitation and ambulatory sectors.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Physiotherap

  • Current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia

  • Eligibility for practicing membership of the Australian Physiotherapy Association

  • Advanced clinical skills in managing a complex caseload and comprehensive discharge planning using a client-centred approach.

  • Broad clinical experience encompassing diverse patient presentation.

  • Previous clinical experience working in an aligned clinical environment.

  • High level communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Demonstrated capacity to work / show leadership in a multidisciplinary team.

  • Experience in supervision of staff and/or students.

  • Commitment to improving own practice and undertaking quality and research activities.
