About the role

Our South-East team are on the lookout for a passionate planner eager to join a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to transformative projects throughout Melbourne. 

Reporting into the Manager Land Planning Environment, the Planning and Environment Adviser is responsible for will provide technical advice to the organisation around planning and environmental issues impacting the delivery of our South-East Program Alliance based in Mount Albert. You will get the opportunity to work closely with industry experts and build strong relationships with a range of government departments and stakeholders such as – the Department of Transport/VicRoads, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Heritage Victoria, EPA and more.

Whilst no one day or project is exactly the same, some of your core accountabilities will include:

  • Liaising with our project teams, as well as our communications team on planning and environmental issues/risks.
  • Preparing statutory materials, environmental referrals, permit applications and other approvals as needed.
  • Undertake research and analysis to support content of technical reports, such as planning controls and submissions analysis.

This is a 3-year fixed term position, paying a salary between $90,067 - $102,192 + superannuation. The team are LXRP have embraced the hybrid working model, with a blend of 3 days in the office (located in Mount Albert) and 2 days at home.

 

About you

You will have a strong sense of purpose in helping the project deliver on transforming the way Victorians live, work and travel.  You will have experience in providing technical advice on planning and environmental issues. Candidates with experience from either the private sector and/or local government are encouraged to apply!

Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian planning and approvals process and legislation relevant to the development and delivery of major infrastructure projects is highly desirable for the role. The team are also interested in someone with strong project management skills. Being able to function in a fast-paced environment and produce quality material will make you a standout applicant.

We'd also love if you have:

  • A high level of attention to detail – you will be supporting the team in the preparation and submission of multiple complex planning amendments, referrals, applications, etc.
  • Exposure to preparing planning, heritage, and environmental approvals documentation.
  • An understanding of priorities, policies and processes at all levels of government.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and influence outcomes – you will be collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in planning, environmental management or a similar discipline is beneficial to the role but not mandatory.
