About the role

In context, Parks Victoria is supporting the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) to deliver a network of Strategic Fuel Breaks across public land. As the Planning Officer, you will work closely with the Senior Program Manager Strategic Fuel Breaks (DELWP) to support the development and finalisation of the Strategic Fuel Breaks Planning and approvals framework. You will work with a variety of stakeholders to plan, prioritise and project manage strategic fuel break construction and associated mechanical works, to ensure new and existing Strategic Fuel Breaks are planned and delivered on the Parks Victoria estate.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic leadership in managing the interpretation of technical information that informs policy and planning decisions
  • Proven understanding of legislation, policies, and agreements for the management of fire and emergency services to enable the translation of policy and strategy into fire and emergency management outcomes
  • Experience in managing sensitive internal and external stakeholder relationships

About the Branch

The Fire, Emergency and Enforcement Directorate oversees the provision of state-wide specialist resources in fire, emergency and enforcement. The Directorate leads state-wide liaison with Emergency Management Victoria and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (including Forests and Operations Division, the Office of the Conservation Regulator and the Office of Bushfire Risk Management) and provides strategic operational direction, advice and expertise for Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
