Postdoctoral Scientist (Clemons Laboratory)



An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Tumourigenesis & Cancer Therapeutics Lab (Clemons) laboratory.The position requires a research scientist highly skilled in cell biology, molecular biology and biochemical techniques to assist in the investigation of functional drivers of oesophageal and oesophago-gastric tumourigenesis and develop new therapies.



The successful candidate should hold (or have recently submitted) a PhD in Biological Sciences and should be highly proficient in molecular, cell biology and biochemistry techniques, including functional genomics (e.g. CRISPR and/or RNAi), and drug assays. Experience in cancer research is also essential. Experience working with advanced cancer models (e.g. 3D organoid/tumouroid or in vivo models) and/or performing large scale functional genomic or compound screens is highly desirable.



The person will be expected to conduct rigorous, valid and ethical research both independently and as part of the research team, and to have excellent organisational and time management skills. They will also be expected to be the first point of call for junior staff and students in the lab to provide technical advice on various projects where needed.



This is a full-time position for a fixed term of 24 months, with the possibility of extension. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in line with the Research Technology level A scale under the Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2020-2021.
