The Principal Regulatory Officer, Energy Markets and Networks, will be responsible for providing detailed policy and regulatory advice on the development and review of regulatory instruments and related issues across a range of energy laws. Prospective candidates should have a strong grasp of regulatory issues and frameworks across the energy sector at both a State and national level.

The role will develop and maintain strong networks across the Branch and broader Energy Group, as well as with other stakeholders such as central agencies.

The position requires the successful applicant to demonstrate policy, project management, research and analytical capabilities. Sound policy and project skills will enable project planning and delivery with the ability to prepare reports, briefs, presentations and correspondence on complex issues and at times, under tight timeframes.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable, resilient and outcomes-focused, with a demonstrated ability to provide clear, authoritative and timely policy advice and see projects to their completion. Knowledge of departmental corporate processes and Cabinet processes will be an advantage.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • An appropriate tertiary degree, preferably in law or legal studies.
  • Strong experience with Government policy and regulatory processes, including Cabinet processes. 
  • Developed understanding of Victorian and national energy markets with a focus on the energy market regulatory framework.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2021.
