The Project Coordinator Indigenous Family Violence Prevention will support the implementation of two major research projects within Respect Victoria. The role will also support other Respect Victoria efforts to deepen Aboriginal community focus in the agency’s work. The projects are a mapping of all Aboriginal family violence prevention initiatives and investments across Victoria to provide the Dhelk Dja Partnership with a strategic overview of current efforts, gaps and areas for future work and an Aboriginal-led primary prevention action research project which will design and test innovative community-led approaches to prevention.

Are you a professional with

  • a demonstrated track record of designing, implementing and managing projects specifically Indigenous projects
  • a strong knowledge of addressing the prevention of family violence
  • knowledge of and experience in working with Indigenous community organisations in Victoria
  • integrity of ethical program management, cultural awareness, strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills

You will

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of projects that build knowledge in the prevention of Indigenous family violence
  • Take responsibility for day to day management of contracted work including funding arrangements, regular reporting, monitoring of progress and supporting the delivery of projects
  • Assist a range of stakeholder relationship activities and build and forge strong connections with external stakeholders to facilitate partnership approaches in Indigenous family violence prevention
  • Provide advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to prevent Indigenous family violence in liaison with Indigenous led organisations and other stakeholders

Respect Victoria

Was established as a Statutory Authority under the Prevention of Family Violence Act in Oct 18. Respect Victoria. Respect Victoria will deliver on the commitments legislated in the Act and the objectives outlined in Free from Violence Victoria's strategy to prevent family violence and all forms of violence against women. Respect Victoria is focused on the prevention of all forms of family violence for all Victorians

Reporting to the Senior Intersectionality Adviser this position involves project management of two significant initiatives – one addressing the mapping of family violence prevention programming in Victoria and one involving action research on prevention initiatives to be delivered through partnership with community agency and research providers.  The role also supports Respect Victoria efforts to deepen Aboriginal community focus in the agency's work 

Who we are looking for

  1. Working knowledge and understanding of drivers of violence in Aboriginal communities would be an advantage
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in gender equality, diversity and inclusion, primary prevention of family violence highly desirable
  3. Demonstrated experience in project management including contract management and budget management 
  4. You have strong problem-solving skills probe for the facts
  5. You are self-managed plans and prioritises work to ensure outcomes are achieved
