Eastern Health is a significant provider of cancer services to patients and their families in the eastern region of Melbourne. Eastern Health delivers bed-based and ambulatory services for patients with cancer through multidisciplinary teams including surgery, radiotherapy, medical oncology, palliative care, Hospital in the Home and oncology rehabilitation.

About the role

An opportunity has arisen in Eastern Health's Cancer Services for an enthusiastic nurse or allied health professional who has a keen interest in improving health outcomes for people with cancer. This project pilot will involve working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team within the Speciality Medicine Program to establish and implement processes for the Symptom and Urgent Review Clinics to engage in the most appropriate and patient-centred manner with vulnerable cohorts of patients including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and those who may be experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current Registration Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or aligned professional group

  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team

  • Excellent organisation, time-management skills and attention to detail

  • Evidence of a commitment to excellence in the care of cancer patients

  • Experience in initiating and managing projects within a health setting

  • Experience in liaising and communicating with key project stakeholders

  • Excellent written and verbal reporting skills

  • Data management and analysis

  • Computer skills commensurate with writing reports, developing presentations, and data management

  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision

Desirable but not essential for performance in the position:

  • Clinical experience in working with older people and their families in an acute health service environment

  • Sound understanding of the cancer optimal care pathway

  • Change management experience within a health setting

  • Comprehensive understanding of the issues for people with a cancer diagnosis

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
