About the role:

You will have the opportunity to work in South Gippsland District renowned for its remote coastal bushland, pristine beaches and diverse marine environment.

As a Ranger (Marine), you will deliver in park services as directed by the Ranger Team Leader to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the Regional Action Plan. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management.

You will be offered training, learning and development opportunities to deliver a level of environmental and service expertise, as well as be supported by Parks Victoria to obtain any qualifications and tickets required to undertake specific tasks and roles. You will be required to work rostered weekends where you are remunerated through the payment of a Rostered Weekend Allowance (annual allowance of your substantive base salary).

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Environmental works
  • Visitor management
  • Project management
  • Emergency response

We're looking for someone with:

  • Marine Qualifications and experience in boat handling is desirable i.e. Coxswains 1NC Certificate or an ability to complete necessary training.
  • Qualification and experience in Snorkelling and SCUBA diving.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant level of knowledge of regulations and compliance procedures.

About the branch:

East region consists of a diverse range of parks and reserves. Staff working within the Region are responsible for providing efficient and effective implementation of a broad range of often complex park management functions including natural, cultural and built asset management, visitor management and services, stakeholder management, park planning and emergency response.
