Cardiac Care Registered Nurses –Western Health Coronary Care Unit (CCU)

About the role


The Coronary Care Unit at Western Health are seeking applications from Registered Nurses (RN) with postgraduate qualifications and experience in Cardiac Nursing who demonstrate outstanding clinical and communication skills and a strong drive for teamwork and continuous professional development throughout their career. 


The Coronary Care Unit is located at Footscray and Sunshine campus, with a total of 46 beds across both campuses that is supported by a 24 hour on call Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, Theatre, and Intensive Care Unit. The provision of best care for patients with acute cardiology and vascular conditions is paramount, alongside the multidisciplinary team. The Western Health CCU nursing team are dynamic and skilled and are dedicated to providing a positive patient experience. 


These positions are permanent part time and involve working a rotating roster. Full time hours are also available.


Cardiac nurses at Western Health have the opportunity to:



  • Care for complex cardiology conditions such as Acute Coronary Syndrome, heart failure and arrhythmias

  • Care for the acute vascular patient post-surgical and interventional procedures

  • Work towards Clinical Nurse Specialist and leadership positions

  • Contribute to the development of future cardiac nurses by mentoring Graduate RN’s and students undertaking postgraduate cardiac studies


Duties



  • Ensure high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health policies and procedures

  • Provide exceptional care to patients with acute cardiac and vascular conditions

  • Opportunity to undertake leadership roles and development programs

  • Role model strong clinical and professional behaviours and lead by example


Essential criteria



  • Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification with RN Registration through NMBA

  • Successful completion of Postgraduate qualification in Cardiac or Critical Care Nursing or working towards completion of postgraduate qualification.

  • Currently working in a cardiac care or critical care area, or experienced in the field

  • Competent in Advanced Life Support (ALS) to facilitate care and transport of monitored patients

  • Demonstrate excellent clinical and organisation skills

  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

  • Highly developed communication and teamwork abilities

  • Willingness to nurture junior staff and contribute to ward portfolios


Highly desirable criteria



  • Currently working in a cardiac care or critical care area, or experienced in the field

  • Wound Expertise
