Registered Nurse - Cancer Services


Our Cancer Services at Western Health are seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team.  Cancer Services provides a range of services including Day Oncology, Radiotherapy, Oncology Hospital in the Home and Inpatient Oncology care.  Cancer Services at Western health operates at Sunshine and is currently offering the following exciting opportunities:


The below selection criteria applies to all vacancies listed:



  • Successful completion of Bachelor of Nursing

  • Registration with AHPRA

  • Competency in intravenous and cannulation and the management of centrally venous access devices

  • Competency in the administration of antineoplastic drugs (eviQ ADAC competency or equivalent) with relevant clinical experience

  • Knowledge and experience within a Dialysis unit

  • Minimum 12 months working experience within an Australian hospital setting (not including placements)



  • Demonstrate the ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team



  • A commitment to high quality and ongoing to maintain a culture of patient centred care.

  • Excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work a rotating roster

  • Possess excellent clinical skills

Registered Nurse – Day Oncology

The Registered Nurse administers chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other therapeutic treatment to patients affected by cancer, provides patient education and symptom management. Applicants must be competent in chemotherapy administration, intravenous cannulation and central line management.


Ambulatory Cancer Services is currently seeking a highly motivated, patient focused Oncology Registered Nurse to join our Chemotherapy Day Unit. As a member of the Ambulatory Cancer Services team, the Registered Nurse is at the forefront of the provision of high quality nursing care provided to oncology patients on a day-to-day basis. 


To be successful in this role you will have:



  • Will need a minimum of at least 4 years full time or equivalent experience in oncology/haematology

  • Certification in chemotherapy administration via an approved course

  • Proven ability to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team

  • A commitment to high quality patient care

2E at Western Health is seeking caring, highly motivated, dedicated and positive Registered Nurses to join the team.  2E is a 32 bed unit that cares for the following specialities - Oncology/Haematology/Endocrinology/Gastroenterology/Nephrology. The ward focuses on providing high standard of care for all acutely ill patients with complex needs within the Western Region.


Our Unit has a strong focus on a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care in order to minimise the impact of cancer and other complex conditions on our patients and their families.   High standards of nursing care are achieved through nursing staff striving for excellence in their practice therefore, professional development play an important role in maintaining these standards.


To be successful for this role you will have:



  • Chemotherapy trained (preferable)



  • A commitment to high quality, safe and person centred patient care

Registered Nurse - Bank


Bank nurses at Western Health are managed by the Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Unit (NMWU) and are able to work across a variety of wards at Western Health. Bank nurses are required to be available a minimum of one shift a fortnight and are able to pick up shift vacancies as they arise. Shift vacancies are sent out by our allocations team and work opportunities and shift offers will depend on the organisations vacancies each day. Working on Bank provides nurses a great opportunity to develop and expand their clinical skills and to experience a variety of different work places.



  • Able to commit to a minimum of one shift a fortnight

  • Willing to work across a variety of clinical settings and wards at Western Health
