Our Journey:

Ward 3a Forest is one of three inpatient units at Monash Children’s Hospital, and while we are predominately the Children’s surgical ward, we also take medical and adolescent patients as well.  This means our nurses are able to continually increase their skills by supporting patients and their families presenting with various concerns.

Our ward is currently funded to be open to 28 beds with the potential to open to 32 inpatient beds in the future.

A Day in the Life:

Now is a really exciting time to join Forest Ward as we delve into more surgical specialities including orthopaedics and extensive plastics. 

Working on Forest Ward, you will continually be exposed to unique clinical situations and we are looking for nurses who are excited by this ongoing development!  You will see a vast variety of surgical interventions, both pre and post op, and will be supported to develop your clinical skills within a fun and supportive environment.  You will have exposure to complex surgical interventions and some of patient cohort includes:, Renal, manual PD, post liver transplant and brain injury.

We have Full and Part Time Ongoing roles working across a 24/7 rotating roster.

What You Bring:

• Previous nursing experience, with a focus on providing seamless and holistic family centred care
• A clear communication style that allows you to build rapport, both internally and externally, and to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams
• A compassionate nature and a desire to provide complete family centred care to our patients and thier families

On a Personal Level, you:

You are looking for a role where you can further develop your already briliant skills, and you are excited by the opportunity for ongoing training and eduation from an experienced support team.  You might be new to surgical nursing and wanting to grow your skills, or you might have current surgical experience and you really want to extend your knowledge into new areas of this speciality.  Either way, if you are passionate about Paediatrics we would love for your to apply.

• You are excited by the opportunity to continually learn and have exposure to some really unique experiences
• Have a passion for Paediatric Nursing and providing the highest quality care to those in your care
• Thrive in a busy environment that keeps you on your toes

What you need:

• Registered Nursing qualifications
• Previous acute experience ideally in a surgical setting
• Current AHPRA registration
• Flexibility to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
