About the unit
The Peri-operative, Surgery and Endoscopy Service on the Austin campus includes 11 Operating Rooms, 2 Procedure Rooms, 2 Endoscopy Rooms, a Recovery unit with high dependency patient facilities, and a Surgery and Endoscopy Centre with up to 12- overnight beds to care for day surgery and day of surgery admission (DOSA) patients. 25,000 surgical and endoscopy procedures are undertaken per annum in the area.
The service provides a broad range of elective and acute surgical procedures including liver transplant, neuro and cardiac surgery. The acute service for emergency surgery is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This requires a rotating roster which includes evenings, weekends and call responsibilities. The elective service operates Monday – Friday only. The Austin Peri-operative Service has a strong commitment to professional support and education of staff and continuously ensuring our patients receive excellence in care at all times.
The administrative team works in close collaboration with nursing management to assist with the operational requirements of the operating suite.
About the role
Night Duty Perioperative Scrub/Scout To provide comprehensive peri-operative (scrub/scout) nursing care, in multiple surgical specialties, ensuring standards meet professional, organisation, legal and ethical requirements. Perform the duties of this position efficiently to the standards of the department, including participating in the Austin Health performance review program, and mandatory training packages. There are 3 shifts per fortnight available. All shifts are 2130 – 0730. 9.5-hour shifts. Nights available are every Thursday night, and every second Friday night. There is an opportunity to Job share. This position is ongoing not fixed term.

A minimum 5 Years experience in Perioperative nursing
Current AHPRA registaration.
A Desire to continue to learn and put learnings into practice.
