The Role:

RCH’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides services for several state and national programs including heart, liver and intestinal transplantation; trauma; and a paediatric retrieval service. As a registered nurse working within our 22 bedded tertiary ICU, you will be working with state of the art equipment in our new facility.

PICU offers flexible rostering options, as 12 hour shifts may be available. You will continue to be provided with ongoing support and development within the critical care setting from an experienced Nursing Education and Research team. There are a number of established pathways to advanced roles within PICU and the RCH offers Post Graduate Nursing Scholarship Program.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP).

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously as required

  • Effective time management and organisational skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible to changing priorities and environment
