About the Role:

The RCH currently has Registered Nurse opportunities available to work across our Day of Surgery Centre and our Possum Ward.

You will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia standards. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts, to facilitate optimal health outcomes; performing self- assessment of scope of practice and competence related to assigned responsibilities as discussed with the care delivery team; retaining responsibility for individual actions and accountability for care provided.

 

What You'll Achieve:

  • Fulfil duty of care by practicing within scope of practice in accordance with Australian Nursing & Midwifery Council guidelines
  • Participate in professional development to enhance nursing practice Provision and Coordination of Care
  • Utilise patient IT systems to document and record nursing activity Critical Thinking and Analysis
  • Integrate nursing health care knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care

 

Classification for this position will range from YP3 - YP9 (base salary $71,333.60 - $95,378.40 per annum pro rata, plus superannuation).

 

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)  
  • Recent experience in an acute surgical area of nursing
  • Paediatric experience is desirable
  • Evidence of on-going professional development as reflected in Professional Practice Portfolio

About the Department:

Our Day of Surgery Centre cares for approximately 10,000 children and their families each year. The Possum Ward cares for patients admitted for a wide range of surgical procedures including tonsillectomy, simple fracture setting, arthroscopy, soft tissue wound repair, cleft lip repair, hernia repair, skin grafting and cardiac catheterisation. You will have the opportunity to work with medical, nursing, allied health (eg social work, occupational therapists, physiotherapists etc) and administrative staff in a short stay environment.
