The Role:

This is a Permanenet Full Time or Part Time position within the Wombat, Specialty Medical Ward.

You will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Council standards. This will be achieved through providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice across a range of contexts, to facilitate optimal health outcomes for our patients. We offer excellent professional development to enhance your nursing practice and conduct comprehensive and systematic nursing assessments to improve the quality of our nursing care provided. This is a rewarding role which will see you involved in all aspects of nursing, including assessments, treatment and delivery of care.

What You’ll Achieve: 

  • Fulfil duty of care by practicing within scope of practice in accordance with Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board guidelines 

  • Participate in professional development to enhance nursing practice provision and coordination of care 

  • Plan nursing care in consultation with individuals/groups, significant others and the multidisciplinary health  care team 

  • Integrate nursing health care knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care 

Classification for this position will range from YP3 - YP9, Grade 2 Year 2 to Grade 2 Year 8 (FTE base salary $71,333 to $95,378 per annum, plus superannuation).

Your Skills and Experience: 

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) 

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio 

  • Employees are required to maintain compliance with RCHs “Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases” procedure. 

  • Recent experience in an acute, medical, surgical, and/or specialty area of nursing 

  • Paediatric experience (desirable, not required)

About the Wombat Ward

Wombat is currently a 16 bed Specialty Medical ward that cares for children of all ages, from infants to adolescents with subspecialties of Allergy and Immunology, Haematology, Endocrinology and Rehabilitation.
