About Chemotherapy Day Unit at Monash Health

Since opening in 1975, the 147-bed Moorabbin Hospital has become one of Victoria’s leading medical and research facilities, building a tradition of high-quality care to its community. Home to the Monash Cancer Centre, one of Victoria’s premier integrated cancer treatment centres, provided in longstanding partnership with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.


As a 28 chair, 3 bed ambulatory care unit, which operates Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6:00pm, the unit treats approximately 45 patients per day.  It is also part of the Southern Melbourne Integrated Care Service which supports the Cancer services at Peninsula Health, Cabrini Health & Alfred Health.


We promote team nursing ratios to a wide age range and complexities of care with support and knowledge through the senior and experienced team.


About the Role


Chemotherapy Day Unit is looking for an enthusiastic, committed and dedicated Registered Nurses. We currently have both Ongoing and Fixed Term vacancies in both Part Time and Full Time capacity. We operate with a Monday to Friday roster, No Nights! No Weekends! We offer flexible rostering, and these positions would also be part of a rotational roster with our Dandenong site – meaning you have the opportunity to work across both Moorabbin and Dandenong to further facilitate a work/life balance.


You would be responsible for administration of cytotoxic therapies by various techniques, with strong attention to detail and management of safety paramount to all patients within our care.  You will support patients, families & carers with education of treatment with advocacy of a decent quality of life whilst on their journey.


We offer a supportive environment for you to learn on the job including ample supernumerary shifts; alongside this all of our Nurses also rotate through the Pre Chemo Education Support role to further enhance their skillset.


About You


You have a positive attitude and personable approach towards patients and families.  As a team player with passion and interest in this field, you actively participate towards service, our unit’s goals and patient outcomes.


As a Registered Nurse with demonstrated experience within a relevant and/or transferable environment, you bring along knowledge and resilience or you may have strong motivation and genuine curiosity to take on further knowledge and studies as you start your career within this area of nursing.


What You Need


Bringing your dedication to safe practice & delivery of quality care, we are also looking for you to have;



  • Previous Acute Nursing experience

  • Further studies in Antineoplastic Drug Administration Course (ADAC) an advantage however we do offer on the job training so would require a willingness to complete this training within 2 weeks of your supernumerary shifts

  • Experience within Chemotherapy Oncology, Critical Care, Cannulation/PICC/IVC preferrable however not essential

  • Australian working rights/visa

  • Current AHPRA registration

  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
