Orygen Inpatient Unit at Footscray is holding an open day for registered nursing staff for clinical vacancies as a result of the expansion to include Youth Justice Beds.

Your New Team

  • Orygen Youth Health Speciality Program (OSP) Inpatient Unit is an Acute Mental Health Inpatient service for young people based in the North Western regions of Melbourne. The inpatient unit includes a 16 bed low dependency area and a further 6 beds for targeted specialised service delivery for youth with complex mental and psychosocial needs

  • We have multiple positions available; Full Time, Part  Time, the role is a 24 hour, 7 days a week roster, within a multi-disciplinary team working with a person centred recovery focus

Your success in this role will be in your ability to

  • Provide specialised nursing care to young people experiencing first episode mental illness

  • Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to achieve the desired treatment outcomes

  • Collaborate with our lived experience workforce in your client interactions, planning and service delivery

  • Bring your own expertise to our team, sharing your knowledge and experience to the program

  • Provide optimal care and expertise within the service framework

  • Demonstrated ability in time management and organisational skills

Your Contribution:

  • Current registration with AHPRA

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health or above

  • Experience or an interest in working in Youth Mental health

  • Be an advocate for young people within an acute mental health service

  • Clinical expertise in mental state assessment and risk assessment

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills within a team and demonstrated ability to relate to young people, carers, other professionals and members of the general community

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, government policy and strategic directions in the mental health field

  • A clinician who embodies the ‘The Melbourne Way’ by putting people first, leading with kindness and working together so we can excel.
