What You'll Do

We are seeking an experienced Research Assistant (Mycology) to contribute to innovative genetic, genomic and ecological research. You'll work with fungi specimens, plant roots, and environmental samples, ensuring high-quality data collection and analysis. Key responsibilities include preparing reports, supporting publications and grant applications, managing laboratory operations, and providing expert advice. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to conduct impactful research while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. What You'll Bring

The successful candidate will be a dedicated and experienced professional with an Honours or Master's degree in biological or environmental sciences (or equivalent) and at least two years of technical experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in generating and analysing molecular data, a sound understanding of molecular methods, and familiarity with relevant scientific literature. Experience with fungal culturing, taxonomy, and ecology is highly desirable. You'll bring a proven ability to support high-quality laboratory research, plan and execute research projects, and write scientific reports and publications. Strong knowledge of standard research techniques, OH&S requirements, and excellent organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage diverse tasks and meet deadlines. As a proactive problem solver, you'll work effectively with minimal supervision and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
