Details of position/position requirements

This position is to oversee Austin Pathologys involvement in the Superbugs project and includes supervision of a grade 1 scientist. Work duties include processing of clinical and screening samples to isolate MDR organisms, identify species and perform susceptibilities and organise data collection , packaging and transfer to the central lab (MDU).

Involvement with on site sequencing of selected isolates is also expected under the supervision of the Principle investigator.

To be successful in this role you must:

have appropriate training and experience applicable to the field of diagnostic laboratory Microbiology

Demonstrate a committment to high quality laboratory practice, including profiniency in manipulating cultures, identifying organisms, performing and interpretating susceptibility testing.

Be open to learning new skills and researching new methods and demonstrate the capacity to supervise other team members appropriately

Demonstrate a committement to working as a team member and have high quality documentation and record keeping.\
