Transfusion Trainer

Clinical Risk Management

RN Grade 4 

Permanent Part Time
(16 hours per fortnight) 

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join our dedicated Clinical Risk Management team as a Transfusion Trainer. This permanent part time position is available for immediate start and includes working one day a week, excluding weekends or Public Holidays, with some flexibility of work hours available. This role involves working closely with WHCG personnel involved in the management of blood and blood products.  The primary purpose of this position is to educate nurses, midwives, medical and other team members involved in the transfusion process in the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood components/products in accordance with national and international guidelines

Key Selection Criteria include:


  •  Registered Nurse Division 1, minimum 3 years post-registration or equivalent

  •  Current registration with AHPRA

  •  Current clinical knowledge in nursing with recent experience in transfusion practice

  •  Organisational skills to coordinate, implement and evaluate a training package

  •  Confidence presenting information to a group of people

  •  Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive working relationships with a broad range of professional disciplines

  •  Basic computer skills i.e. internet, email and Microsoft Word



  • Demonstrated understanding of quality and safety improvement guidelines

  • Training or education qualification in blood

  • Experience in use of Excel and IQRS data collection tool
