About the Role

Reporting to the Team Leader - Safety Inspectorate, the role is responsible for the in-field compliance activities that focus on the safety of the 3 modes we regulate.  Those being the Bus, Commercial Passenger Vehicle (CPV) and Maritime sectors. The purpose of the role is to influence safety via both educative and compliance measures across Victoria.

The responsibilities of the Safety Inspector role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the implementation of safety programs, initiatives, and projects to improve safety performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with compliance agencies and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections with duty holders to assess compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Identify safety issues, hazards, and potential risks and take appropriate actions to rectify them.

Demonstrated experience working in compliance, enforcement and regulation and/or customer and stakeholder relations, along with the ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders would be advantageous.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Previous compliance or inspectorate experience
  • Marine Licence with PWC Endorsement with previous experience operating vessels
  • Cert IV Govt Investigations or higher
  • A Coxswains’ Certificate issued by a state or Commonwealth regulatory authority (or equivalent).  Applicants who do not hold this qualification will be required to undertake an appropriate medical assessment.

Full training to obtain relevant qualifications will be provided.
