Medical Scientist (Grade 2) Reproductive Services Laboratory 

  • Fixed Term position, until May 2022

The Reproductive Services Unit is a leading provider of IVF and related fertility treatments and currently requires an experienced part-time IVF Scientist to work on the National Ovarian and Testicular Tissue Transport and Cryopreservation Services (NOTTCS) program.

Duties encompass all aspects of tissue cryopreservation with regard to the transport, collection, inspection, quality control, preparation, processing and grafting.

Your contribution  

Specific to the NOTTCS program, your duties as a Medical Scientist (Grade 2) includes (but are not limited to) the following:-

  • Handle chemicals, equipment, storage liquids and vessels

  • Process and cryopreserve human tissue, gametes and embryos

  • Organise transport of tissue for cryopreservation to RWH, where required

  • Assist with and perform IVF lab tasks as required

  • Undertake manipulation of human oocytes, sperm, embryos and other related aspects of ART

  • Liaise daily with our multi-disciplinary  team to facilitate the availability of procedures

  • Demonstrate understanding of OH&S issues and procedures with regard to personal hygiene and the care, handling and disposal of biological and hazardous substances

About you

To be successful within this role you will need to have:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent

  • Directly relevant clinical IVF laboratory experience

  • The ability to work independantly and as part of a cohesive team

  • Strong attention and communication of detail

  • Be eligible to work in Australia

Salary classification will be commensurate with relevant experience
