Your new role

We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Assessments team as a Senior Assessment Officer on a full-time fixed term basis, to 14 February 2025. Reporting to the Manager - Assessment Team 1, the role will provide guidance to Assessment Officers and manage more complex and escalated enquiries or complaints from a diverse range of areas, including government, private, public and community sectors.

Duties include:

  • Assist the Team Manager with various tasks, including providing quality assurance of letters and case assessments.
  • Provide specialist guidance to Assessment Officers in making recommendations for further action based on IBAC's policies, procedures, guidelines and relevant legislation.
  • Apply specialist knowledge to provide accurate and consistent procedural and practical guidance and advice to complainants in response to their communications with IBAC by phone, email or by mail.
  • Develop complainant management plans as required.
  • Receive enquiries or complaints (verbal or written) and make recommendations for further action based on IBAC's policies, procedures, guidelines and relevant legislation.

Our requirements / Your skill set

We are looking for candidates with the below experience and capabilities:

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service experience and responding in a highly resilient manner to sensitive, complex, and challenging subject material.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, conflict management and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide high quality and accurate information when responding to queries from the Victorian community.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment and excellent attention to detail are necessary.
  • Experience in using case management and complaints management / handling systems.
  • Significant experience in responding to Government enquiries / complaints.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in complex complaint management.
