Infrastructure Budget and Accounting Branch (Asset Accounting)

As part of the Infrastructure Budget and Accounting Branch, the Asset Accounting team is responsible for ensuring the Department's property, plant and equipment is reported in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, Department of Treasury and Finance Reporting Directions and Australian Accounting Standards.

The team develops, maintains and seeks to continuously improve financial reporting processes which allow school asset managers to make effective decisions in the financial management of school assets.

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for developing accounting business processes for assets to ensure ongoing compliance with best practice and accounting standards. Working as part of a team, this is a dynamic role which focuses on the full end-to-end asset life cycle accounting function with a desire to identify process improvement opportunities.

The role requires excellent communications and negotiation skills for liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders, the development of key asset policies and providing quality advice on financial asset management. Technical accounting skills are also required to deliver the requirements of state government accounting within the context of the Department's corporate plan and operational environment.



The Asset Accounting unit of the Infrastructure Budget and Accounting Branch

 


  • Provision of portfolio asset financial management, ensuring the Department's property, plant and equipment is reported in compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994, Department of Treasury and Finance Reporting Directions and Australian Accounting Standards.

 


  • Manage the Department's asset policies relating to property, plant and equipment.

 


  • Develops, maintains and continual improvement of the financial planning, budgeting and reporting processes which support effective asset management accounting and recording.

 


  • Support compliance with the Asset Management Accountability Framework as set out in the Standing Directions of the Minister of Finance.
