The role of Senior Category Manager includes responsibility for delivery of procurement and contract management activities relating to IT projects, stakeholder consultation, and leading strategic ICT resource/service contracts. Ideally a strong background working in Victorian Public Sector Government procurement policies and a working knowledge of IT concepts and terms would be advantageous.

Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Introduce and maintain Procurement Category Management principles and assistance in mentoring Category Managers within the Procurement function.
  • Oversight of the ICT Category Manager to ensure delivery of projects are met within agreed timelines and are of a high standard.
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with Senior and Executive Stakeholders within RMH, preparation of various recommendation papers for relevant RMH Boards and Committees.
  • Review of spend categories, spend analytics, and contract portfolios to identify sourcing opportunities complete with thorough risk assessments
  • Leading and assisting contract negotiations, drafting and execution process
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the organisation
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Digital Strategy and Transformation to assist in delivery of the Departments Procurement objectives through the delivery of agreed programs of work and advise on all Procurement matters, including but not restricted to; introduction of new products/services, changes to supply, alternatives for review and analysis based on market research.
  • Generate strategic initiatives through robust analysis and development of sourcing strategies that support sound business cases
  • Monitor and evaluate market dynamics and competitive conditions and use outcomes to review spend categories with stakeholder groups and set appropriate sourcing strategies
  • Assist with reviewing processes, implement efficiencies, of RMH Procurement, Purchasing, Market Engagement and Contract Management policies, templates, tools, and guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with Heath Share Victoria (HSV) to deliver value for money and great commercial outcomes for both the Victorian Health Service Sector and particularly RMH by representing RMH interests at meetings as required with HSV.
