Senior Communications Advisor

• $101,120 - $122,348 (Plus Superannuation)

The position of Senior Communications Adviser  forms a part of the Strategic Communications and Marketing Branch. We actively promote the Victorian Government's role in growing our state's economy, creating jobs for Victorians, building thriving places and regions and supporting an inclusive and fairer society. 

The Senior Communications Adviser delivers innovative, high-quality and effective communications, media and stakeholder engagement services across Ministerial portfolios, to support the achievement of government priorities and the department's objectives.

Reporting to the Communications and Media Manager in the Strategic Communications and Marketing Branch, the Senior Communications Adviser will deliver communications for policies, programs, initiatives and ministerial events across Ministerial portfolios within the department. 

The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division.

The key accountabilities of the role will include:

• Develop and deliver strategic communications, media and social media activities for the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, focussing on various initiatives.
• Providing comprehensive services including strategy development, stakeholder analysis and engagement support, media relations, reputational risks and issues management, as well as social media, advertising and web content and publication management, and working within DJPR strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement frameworks.
• Develop and deliver high-quality, accurate communication materials to support ministerial events within required timeframes, maintaining strict confidentiality and in line with DJPR's communication policies and processes.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide tactical communications advice to the managers and executives in the Strategic Communications and Marketing Branch and to executives and senior staff and relevant ministerial offices.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the DJPR Communications Branch team, senior staff, and ministerial office staff to ensure alignment of portfolio communications and stakeholder engagement activities, working collaboratively to deliver cross-portfolio activities.
• Provide tactical advice and management of workflow within the portfolio communications team, working closely with the manager to ensure continuity of workflow and output.
