  Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and state-wide specialist services to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.

About the role

The Brief Intervention Team(BIT) incorporates the HOPE (Suicide Prevention) stream of care -  a key component of the Senior Consumer Peer Worker role is provision of peer support interventions, within a recovery oriented framework, to people referred to the BIT team. In addition  the Senior Consumer Peer will provide leadership support to other lived experience consumer workers.

The Senior Consumer Peer worker works in close collaboration with other staff and management in delivering care and support. Peer workers support consumers to be involved in decision making about their own care and treatment; and build understanding of the effectiveness of the peer workforce. The role is generally based within the BIT service  but also operates as part of a broader lived experience workforce team.
