The Revenue Forecasting Team within the Revenue Group is currently looking for a VPS5 Senior Data Analyst on an ongoing basis, to work as part of an expert team of economists, data scientists and researchers to support the delivery of accurate, reliable and timely revenue forecasts for Victorian budget publications that support evidence-based decision making by government. About the role

The Revenue Forecasting Team within the Revenue Group is currently looking for a VPS5 Senior Data Analyst on an ongoing basis, to work as part of an expert team of economists, data scientists and researchers to support the delivery of accurate, reliable and timely revenue forecasts for Victorian budget publications that support evidence-based decision making by government.

This position will be responsible for:

  • working both independently and collaboratively as part of an expert team to identify, interpret, and analyse datasets to answer business problems and generate insights;
  • building data models, designing, scheduling and maintaining automated reports and dashboards using Tableau and other platforms;
  • analysing and defining new process improvement opportunities to support continuous improvement and business outcomes;
  • delivering briefings to senior management and government that are timely, accessible, and accurate; and
  • fostering a positive team culture.

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • a strong knowledge of industry-standard, enterprise-class best practices for data modelling, data quality and data management;
  • experience in Tableau or Power BI, SQL, and R/python applications;
  • the ability to deliver tangible business outcomes by critically evaluating problems and delivering effective solutions;
  • the ability to seek opportunities for continuous improvement and ways to innovate;
  • experience in building a supportive and cooperative team environment; and
  • an appropriate qualification in statistics, information technology, economics, econometrics or a related field.

 

Experience in using a wide range of established and emerging data technologies, such as business intelligence, predictive analytics, data visualisation and unstructured data will be viewed favourably.
