The First Peoples - State Relations (FPSR) Group is seeking talented and passionate individuals committed to progressing the Victorian Government's nation leading work with First Peoples. This is a unique opportunity to work in new and innovative ways that recognise First Peoples as the self-determining drivers of Aboriginal affairs in Victoria. This role will contribute to the ground-breaking work of FPSR in the areas of truth, treaty, self-determination and cultural rights.

As the Senior Events Coordinator, you will work within a small team to support delivery of the major Aboriginal cultural events program for the Victorian Aboriginal community.

You will play an active role in engaging and building partnerships across government and Aboriginal communities to promote the stories, achievements and cultures of Aboriginal Victorian people.

This is a fixed-term role for 12 months.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • knowledge of, and experience with, Aboriginal communities and an ability to apply this knowledge in the context of Victorian Aboriginal communities
  • the ability to engage in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner with Aboriginal organisations and communities
  • experience in delivering events programs within agreed timeframes and budget
  • strong project management, planning and organisational skills
  • highly developed written communication and stakeholder management skills.

Grants management experience, including knowledge of grants electronic management systems (e.g. Salesforce, GEMS), would be advantageous.
