The Senior Jobs, Skills and Pathways Officer provides an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team to strengthen the vocational and applied learning and careers pathways offered in secondary schools across Outer Gippsland. Utilise your stakeholder engagement and partnership development expertise to support schools with their continuous improvement agenda and reform implementation. An exciting opportunity exist(s) to become a Senior Jobs, Skills and Pathways Officer (SJSPO) in the Outer Gippsland Area of the South Eastern Victorian Region.

The SJSPO role exists in each of the 17 Department of Education's Area offices. The role supports existing intiatives and the implementation of the Senior Secondary Reform agenda in response to the Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling (the Firth Review).

Reporting to the Area Jobs Skills and Pathways Manager (JSPM), and based at either the Sale or Bairnsdale office, the SJSPO will work within a multi-disciplinary team and Regional Pathways workforce to strengthen the vocational and applied learning pathways offered within schools and provide place-based support to school based staff.

The SJSPO will support vocational and applied learning opportunities for secondary school students across Outer Gippsland by:

  • Supporting the provision of vocational and applied learning opportunities for students in the pre-senior secondary years through to senior secondary
  • Providing expert advice to support the implementation of new and exisiting programs including the new senior secondary certificate reforms, careers education, Head Start and School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships, and VET delivery and funding
  • Promoting vocational and applied learning offerings within schools to address entrenched perceptions of vocational and applied learning within schools and local communities
  • Analysing data and using local insights to support relationships with local stakeholders, to drive continuous improvement and quality of the delivery of vocational and applied learning opportunities in secondary schools
  • Enabling local engagement with industry, employers, Local Learning and Employment Networks (LLENs), TAFEs and other registered training providers, Higher Education providers, Group Training Organisations, VET providers, and Non-school providers. The approach to fostering these connections will be place-based and supported by building on existing relationships and partnerships specific to local context and needs.

Previous experience in project planning and implementation, stakeholder engagement and partnership development, educational leadership, VET and applied learning is highly desirable.
