The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. We're delivering world-class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VHBA also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines.

The Opportunity:   

This newly created role is responsible for providing outcomes-focused expert legal advice for VHBA's construction and infrastructure projects, and related construction procurement advice. You will work within the VHBA infrastructure Legal branch to influence government decision making on front-end construction and infrastructure issues, construction procurement and government policy, working with a range of construction contract models, bespoke best-for-project solutions, as well as a variety of construction related legal issues.

• Draft and review required documentation for the procurement, development and delivery of VHBA projects
• Contribute to the maintenance of a suite of standard form contracts and specifications for major construction, goods and services and construction related procurements
• Build trusted internal relationships within the project development and delivery teams of VHBA to ensure projects are benefiting from timely support and advice as issues arise

We are looking for:  

• Experience providing legal advice on complex construction/infrastructure, advising both private sector and government
• Experience providing legal advice in end-to-end tender and contract processes, negotiations, preparation and evaluation of tender documents and proposals
• Mandatory condition of employment, the incumbent must hold (or be eligible to hold) a current practicing certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria)
